How to Apply Peacock Wallpaper over a Cemented Wall
It is easy to overcome the problem of having rough
surfaces in your home. You can use the peacock wallpaper to properly hide all
the blemishes and cracks. It will transform the appearance of your living space
in an enhanced way.
It is a very effective technique that also applies to
walls made of cement blocks. If you are building your home with brick or cement
blocks and want to coat a curtain wall, ask your builder to apply mortar. It
offers a nice flat surface instead of sweeping the grout. With existing walls,
the secret lies in the preparation of the raw surface.
Here are some essential tools that you need for the effective decoration of your home.
Tools Required
The tools include a long table or bench, tray, sponge
or foam applicator, scissors, soft brush for smoothing wallpaper on walls,
ruler, plumb line, a razor for cutting, and many others.
Paint Sealer
Paint sealer is applied to dry the moisture from the
walls, then measure the liquid for latex wallpaper. A well-glued layer of
wallpaper is enough to soften the glue and attach the panels firmly to the
wall, so they don't weaken in any way when the wallpaper is installed.
The same principle can even be applied when the
wallpaper is applied to the rough-caste walls. These are the walls that are
plastered and are raked. If your brick wall has a very rough and raised
surface, it will need to be plastered before applying the wallpaper.
Appropriate Way to Do It
1. Before starting to work on the raw absorbent wall,
you must first seal the surface properly and resize it. Cover the wall of your
home with a paint sealer and leave it overnight so that it can be dried up
properly. Then apply a liquid-based latex. It is especially good for absorbent
surfaces. It takes about an hour to dry. If time is tight, instead of applying
the sealant overnight, you can apply two coats and leave an hour in between
both coats.
Apply Pre-Lined Paper
You need to soak, os that it softens up and you can
easily roll out it to your arm's length. After that, fold back and forth in the
middle. It will form a pleat at the end of the roll.
Hold the Sheets Properly
You need to hold the top sheet of paper in one hand and
pleat in the other, straighten the first crease along the wall, and smooth it
out with a sponge. Then, stretch the next fold and flatten it to the end of the
roll.
Addition of Glue
To make the paper skew, allow 25 mm (one inch) of
overlap and add glue on the adjacent pieces of paper on the top side.
Repeat the soaking and folding process. After that
place, the next roll of paper on top of the first and overlaps it about 6 mm.
You also need to apply the wallpaper on another paper. It will prevent the
edges of the joints in the grooves between the bricks.
Tighten Up of Grooves
You need to let the coating paper dry overnight. It
will tighten up and stretches over the rough patches and grooves on the wall
surface.
Use of Latex Liquid
After the tightening of patches, cover the wall with a
latex-sized amount of liquid before applying the wallpaper. It will ensure that
the cover paper is tightly closed and adheres to the wall properly.
Right Type
The selection of the right type of peacock wallpaper
is important as it will decide the overall look of your wall. It must be
embossed or heavy natural fabric so that prints of the design did not disappear
when you applied glue on it.
Hang the selected background image vertically in an
appropriate way.
Now sit back and see the masterpiece.
